Norwegian marine insurer and Group Club Skuld will introduce a revised organisational structure from 1 November, changing its executive leadership and simplifying its market organisation. Insurance Marine News reported that Skuld presented the overhaul as preparation for future growth, with bigger business units intended to strengthen resilience and take responsibility for a wider range of markets.
The changes place Kristian Løberg in the role of chief underwriting officer, moving him from his current position as chief financial officer. Oda Bjerketvedt Norderud has been appointed chief financial officer. Under the revised arrangements, Skuld’s business units will report to the chief underwriting officer, bringing the market structure under that role’s oversight.
Skuld is also creating global leadership positions for its principal insurance products. Lars Dueled will become global head of P&I, Paul Fry will take charge of hull globally, and Christofer Kobro will lead energy. All three will report to the chief underwriting officer. Gregory Thomas will remain chief business development officer, continuing his work on market development and the insurer’s growth strategy, according to Insurance Marine News.
A separate leadership handover is scheduled for Skuld Hong Kong in September 2027. Wei Fan will succeed Patrick Wang as head of the Hong Kong business unit, while Wang will become chairman of Skuld (Far East). The insurer described the transition as part of its succession planning and its efforts to develop its position in a market it regards as important.
Skuld said the broader reorganisation was designed to improve collaboration between regions and product teams while offering clients a more joined-up service. President and chief executive Ståle Hansen said the changes would help the insurer make better use of its expertise and support further expansion. He also linked the restructuring to stronger support for members, clients and brokers through an organisation better able to work across its different businesses.
